Distribution of Heavy Metals in Agricultural Soils Near Major Roads in Medium-Sized Cities

Due to rapid urbanization, urban lands have been expanded into existing agricultural areas. With such spatial changes, in the expanding cities or peri-urban areas are easily exposed contaminants generated by anthropogenic activities as traffic. Therefore, this study aimed investigate heavy metal concentrations major roadside soils distance medium-sized cities, Jinju and Changwon, identify influence of dust on contamination. The arable paddy upland, tree soil, were sampled. In paddy, concentration changes from road not observed because soil puddling waterlogging. However, Cu Zn gradually decreased with increased road. dust, very high, exceeding Korean guidelines, which indicates could be a primary source contamination soils. Moreover, is disturbed activities, showed higher topsoil rather than subsoil, even though was newly introduced for planting. This implies that containing may accumulate nearby Many scientists thought eco-friendly compost main reason increasing needs more focused principal contamination.High decrease an upland soil.
